😊 I was stoked to launch a new Good Neighbor Lab program last Friday: Community Connection Walks! Building off the success of San Francisco’s popular neighborhood cleanups, I partnered with Vince Yuen at Refuse Refuse SF to design a new corporate engagement program: picking up trash + meeting your neighbors. Participants in Community Connection Walks pick up trash along designated routes, while stepping inside a variety of civic institutions in the neighborhood. These curated stops include neighborhood meet-and-greets, informational sessions, and drop-in volunteering.

👯‍♀️ Last Friday was Deloitte Impact Day and we had ~30 Deloitte team members join us for the event. (Thank you Em Havens, Maya Bodan, Lindsay Chan, Jenny Hoang, and Alison Hagan for all the support.) We started at Yes SF, where we kicked off the day with opening remarks from Deloitte team leaders, Rodney Fong, First Lady of San Francisco Becca Prowda, myself, and Vince Yuen.

👣 Picking up trash throughout SOMA, our first stop was Sentro Filipino: The San Francisco Filipino Cultural Center, where we learned about the space and got a tour from educator and community leader Edwin Lozada. We then continued the neighborhood cleanup as we walked to local public school Bessie Carmichael School. At Little Bessie we helped organize teacher classrooms under the direction of wonderful Community Schools Coordinator Carla Baltodano. We returned to Yes SF to wrap up the day and learn about SF Good Neighbor Week.

🙏 Thank you Deloitte volunteers for joining us on #ImpactDay! Thank you for piloting a new program with me and Vince Yuen. And thank you to all the partners and organizers who helped make our first Community Connection Walk a success!
