Building bridges inside our city

Our programs strengthen neighbor-to-neighbor relationships, build resident-to-institution connections, and encourage hyperlocal innovation.

Good Neighbor Lab is a 501c3 nonprofit based in San Francisco.

Mission

Our mission is to bring community information, belonging, and joy to San Francisco neighborhoods.

Vision

We envision a future where residents in every neighborhood feel connected to those around them, are comfortable reaching out to socially isolated neighbors, and can access local information in public spaces. This future strengthens local democracy, civic participation, and community connection across San Francisco and beyond.

Values

  • Listen first. Take time to learn people’s stories.

  • Think big. Encourage new and nontraditional ideas.

  • Neighborhood scale. Focus on the hyperlocal context.

  • Intentional outreach. Try our best to reach our most socially isolated neighbors.

  • Local talent. Promote students, early career professionals, and small business owners in our work.

Who we are

We are a motivated group of social impact entrepreneurs, community builders, neighborhood leaders, local news advocates, artists, and technologists who love San Francisco.

We are supported by dozens of volunteers from SF Civic Tech and Full Circle Fund. Our advisors are national democracy innovators and civic tech experts, along with San Francisco community leaders.
